Drakensberg Balloons - South Africa
Chasing Dragons the Champagne Connection. The name fits, sort of, in two languages. Rising from the gentle plains beneath the Drakensberg Mountains, for the Zulu are known as uKhahlamba (or the Barrier of Spears) form a massive wall rising to 11,000′ in places that seem almost impossible to cross. For Afrikaners, the name Drakensberg was coined around 1860 when a Boer father and son reported seeing a dragon, a giant lizard with wings and a tail flying high above the cloud shrouded mountain peaks. Some 200-kilometers long, the mountains are a world heritage site and help create the border between Kwa Zulu Natal in South Africa and Lesotho. Well I for one would like to see a dragon so what better fire breathing platform than a hot air balloon to try.
